Dominates Obvious Counterpart

Don't waste your money on a Music Man when this bass looks better and sounds just as good (if not better) than the high-dollar counterpart. I own the 4-string version of this bass, and I use it on many of the recording sessions I'm hired for. It has big, clean tone that is versatile and works with many, many genres of music. The bass is constructed well with good materials.

If you're considering buying a Music Man, do yourself a favor: take a friend that plays bass to your local guitar dealer. Have your friend play the Music Man and the ATK while you have your eyes closed. Choose based on tone, then play the basses yourself. Now choose based on playability, feel, materials, look, AND THEN price. Chances are good that you'll choose the ATK over the MM!

Excellent All-Purpose Bass!

I've been playing the Ibanez ATK305 bass for a few months now, and I absolutely love it! The greatest thing about it is its versatility. I play in a cover band, and need to be able to change from playing the Beatles to Motorhead, Thin Lizzy or Nirvana within seconds. and believe me, this bass can do it! The tone selector switch does an excellent job of changing its tone, and the 3-band EQ is even better. This bass can do it all, and sound great doing it: slap and pop, metal, country, blues, rock, and pretty much anything else you can think of. This is a really substantial bass, which I personally prefer, but may be an issue to some smaller bassists. The one drawback I have noticed is in its durability. I purchased mine used, and before I got it, its tone switch had broken off, and there is a pretty significant chip/crack in the wood towards to bottom of the instrument, presumably from being dropped on the ground.

The best bass on the market

I love this bass. What really makes this bass it the thick neck, it gives you the room to play slap and pop with ease. I play in a local band that covers a little bit of everything, and this is the only bass I need for the gig. If I want a great rock sound I just use a pick. If I need that jacco sound I use my fingers. If I want more definition I just boost the mid to 7'oclock, If I need a great funky slap and pop sound, just cut the mids to 3'oclock. I never have to mess with my amp to change my sound. I have played bass that cost more than twice what this one cost, and none of felt or sounded better then this one, so why pay more. This bass has never let me down.
