I bought this little bass for my daughter to learn on. She's 9 and very petite for her age. The mikro was the perfect bass. She has no trouble with it at all. she loves it and she practices all the time!!! I was very surpised by this little bass. I play an ErnieBall Musicman Stingray5 and cover all kinds of music. This little bass is actually more versatile than my Stingray!!! haha!!! It doesn't have the volume though or quite the low end growl. Have to really adjust the pre amp gain to match the volume of the stingray but tonewise this little bass is a beast!!! The stingray only comes out for gigs. Otherwise the mikro is always out and plugged in to play every day. Great little bass. Incredible bargain for the price!!! Oh and the intonation was spot on!!! Checked it with a strobe tuner and it needed zero adjustments. BUY IT!!!! Best bass out there for kids or just smaller people with small hands. Don't let the short scale full you. Its a REAL bass.

Bought this after I'd been playing BASS 6 mo and was pleasntly surprised. It's very light, comes in pretty colors, is easy to play, and you can dial in a realy narly sound, a big difference from my other bass, a Fender Mustang. I found myself playing each about 1/2 the time but preferred the sound of the Mikro. Looks & plays like it costs much more than it did. I've owned a Hamer Slammer, Denelectro 63, and an SX jazz, all of them short scales, and the Ibanez far outshines those three. Sold the Mikro after I dropped it and a big 2"x1" part of the eggshell like finish just popped off...couldn't take looking at it. My only problem was when I would go back to the Fender after playing the Mikro the Fender felt too big and awkward, the same as going from the Fender to a std 34" scale bass. I say BUY THIS BASS because I'm going to get another, and not drop it this time.

I can't say enough nice things about this little bass. I bought it for my 13 year old daughter and she loves it. Just take off the strings, clean and oil the fretboard, and you are good to go. Great little beginner's instrument.

I am an elementary-school classroom teacher who directs the school's guitar ensemble. I've been looking to form a rock band with some of my advanced students, and while there are a number of appropriately-sized/scaled guitars on the market there has unfortunately been very little in the way of suitable bass guitars until now. Although in recent years there has been a resurgence of manufacturer/market interest in short-scale basses, all the other instruments I've tried in the low-price field have had problems with weight/balance, tonal quality/versatility, fit/finish, or any combination of the above, that render them unsuitable for my purposes. Having owned several Ibanez products over the years - Ragtime acoustic guitar, Roadstar P/J bass, and my current SR405 5-string - I took a chance and bought this one unheard/unseen; suffice it to say that it meets or exceeds everything I've come to expect from Ibanez over the last 25 years. First off, it neither feels nor sounds like a low-price/student instrument: neck contour is - in typical Ibanez fashion - slim and fast, easily negotiable for a ten-year-old while still being comfortable for an adult with smaller hands (or a guitarist who doubles on bass for recording purposes), and the P/J-derived pickups are of sufficient quality to remain reasonably true to their tonal roots. In fact, the short scale lends a fluid smoothness to the tone and a softer attack than a comparably-equipped 34" instrument, both of which should make this a must-have "secret weapon" in any session player's collection (I'd love to hear it on a mellow-jazz date). The control cavity is totally shielded with conductive paint and foil - very rare in this price range - and the pearl white finish on my instrument gives it an upscale look reminiscent of some higher-end Soundgear basses. As with anything built to a price, however, there were some corners cut in production, all of which may be remedied at minimal cost: the tuners are generic stamped-cover items, the control knobs are chromed plastic, and the tone pot taper is not as even as it could be - all serviceable items to be sure, but given the overall build quality it would be worth spending a few dollars and a couple hours with some hand tools to come away with a first-class instrument. Finally, I'd recommend the heaviest strings you can find if you want maximum tone/volume/response (I'm using LaBella .049-.109 flats on mine - fortunately the nut is cut deep enough to handle them) but be advised that you'll need a dedicated short-scale set - the small tuning posts can't handle the full thickness, especially on the A and E strings. Overall, the Mikro is an unbeatable combination in this price range; if you're considering a Dean EVO, Epiphone EB-0, Epi/Hofner/Jay Turser/Rogue violin bass, Hamer Slammer, or Squier Bronco (not to mention a few higher-priced short-scale instruments), be sure to put this one on your must-play list - you won't be disappointed.

I have played bass for decades. I have an old heavy SD Curlee with Dimarzio pickups and a very solid sound. But I needed a lighter instrument. I ordered a black Ibanez GSRM20 Mikro bass here with a gig bag. I was very pleased with the cost which included shipping! When it arrived, I was surprised at how straight the neck was. I actually had to loosen the rod a bit to get the desired curve. The front pickup is a P style like the dimarzios on my old bass. It sounds solid with no noise. The back pickup is a J style which adds a lot of highs but also adds some hum. Pros: It's not expensive. The short scale is really nice! The action is OK, the intonation is great, it's good looking and it's light. Cons: The knobs for the controls have jagged edges on the bottom which can grind into the guitar's finish. This is a GREAT buy for this money!
