Light as a feather!!!

I ordered this bass approximately six months ago. I have been extremely happy with it since day one and have gigged several times with it without a hitch. This bass has good tone, and great action. I would say if anything needs to be changed, it would be the nut(plastic) and the pickups. But as I said, I am happy with it the way it is and will only change those items if I have to. I must say the best feature of this bass for me, is that it is light as a feather compared to all other basses I have played over the past eleven years. I jumped up with a different band recently and played a warwick five string....I played five songs and the weight just about killed me...Now with this ibanez, I can play a four hour night without any problems at all. For all of you bass players who are tired of packing around a log, go this route, you won't be sorry.

Great little bass.

I have been playing consistently for over 25 years and I am simply amazed at this little bass especially considering the price. It's now my favorite of my five basses. Consider that I have two American made fenders, one of which is a 25 year old Precision P-Bass, the other a fretless jazz bass clone of Jaco's. Two great basses but this little and super light bass plays as well or better. The neck is super thin and fast. The bass is ridiculously easy to play. Out of the box the setup was nice. An average setup that most people will be comfortable playing. I had to do a little tweaking of my own to set it up the way I like to play. First and foremost my favorite strings: D'Addario flatwound strings. A little bridge and pickup height adjustment and then some very slight truss rod adjustment. Which I should add, this bass does indeed have a truss rod and it is adjustable unlike another reviewer commented on. The adjustment is just under a little cover plate, that's all. If you are not experienced setting up a bass, then leave it alone, like I said, out of the box it's fine for just about anyone. At this price, the bass cannot be beat. Now to see if they make one fretless because that will be my next bass for sure.

Ibanez sr300, blue

I love this bass except for one thing. Like others have noted, theres several of them which have bridge adjustment screws that are a little small for the bridge saddle holes. Which results in the saddles riding down from playing the bass and of course this causes strings fretting out against the fretboard. Was able to fix mine by useing some elmers wood glue to coat the screws. Which when it dried gives enough extra for screws to stay in place fine. Now for the good stuff, neck plays great, body looks and wears great, things very light weight and sounds fantastic once pup heights are adjusted to taste and style sweepers adjusted to taste. The new pups ibanez is useing for these gives me a focussed tone that works great with overdrive and ring modulation combined together for my electronica bass guitar voice. If Ibanez will fix the bridge problem too many of these basses have I'd rate them a perfect 5 across the board. The stacked bass/treble pot on mine did develope some scratchy sound but was able to fix this easilly with some tuner cleaner spray. Had mine for allmost a year. I like the sound of this bass better then more expensive basses by Ibanez. Their voice works better for me then them for the stuff I'm mainly useing it for.

I bought the Ibanez SR300 (USED) and it was well worth the money spent. I can play around with the sound without having to touch my amp: PLUS. It's featherweight, so my spine thanks me: PLUS. The 24 fret range lets me cover more ground and be creative w/o being a contortionist with my fingers: PLUS. And the overall craftsmanship just oozes with the "class" of more $$$ instruments. My only complaint: the colors need to change(I got orange). Awesome bass for such a low price!! My Fender Jazz MIM and Peavey Fury have been green with envy the past few weeks about being on the backburner.

Where's the truss rod?

I've never found a bass that slaps better then this one, though when I bought it I noticed the truss rod needed a tiny bit of tweeking. I didn't think anything of it; brought it home and WTF? No truss rod access...I ended up having to raise the entire bridge. The bass plays amazingly but I have a feeling my neck will be doing the noodle trick and I'll have to throw out the whole thing.
