A bolt-on neck joint on the Ibanez SR505 5-string bass guitar allows superb access to the upper frets of its five-piece jatoba/bubinga neck. Only 4/5" thick at the first fret, the 34" scale neck provides more comfortable playing than standard 5-string necks.

Bartolini MK1 pickups and 3-band EQ deliver world-class tone, while the mahogany body provides naturally warm lows and sweet sustain. Rosewood fretboard offers a strong, bright sound and an attractive appearance with a long grain. Ultradurable Accu-Cast B25 bridge offers quick and easy string changes. Single-screw saddle height adjustment gives you better stability than standard double-screw designs.

Not Impressed

I bought this bass thinking it would be similar to my old Ibanez Soundgear 4 string, and it really isn't. This bass isn't horrible by any means, but tone wise I am just not impressed. I think I will continue to play my Lace-Helix until I am ready to purchase another bass. I'll probably to with the Lace 5 string next time.

Best Bang for your Buck

By far the best bang for your buck. This is my 9th Ibanez that I have owned. They just keep making these things better every year. NO complaints. I'm actually considering buying another SR505 for back up on stage. Buy this bass, you won't be dissapointed.

I bought this bass at the beginning of the year. I wanted a 5 string, I hdad never played one before, so I didn't want to spend a thousand dollars on one, especially if I didn't like it. If you buy this bass online I highly recommend you know how or know of someone who can "adjust" it as it had a number of "fret buzzes" I don't know if Musicians Friend, or Ibanez sets up their guitars before they ship, but this one, wasn't very well "set up." I don't know how, so I struggled with it for a few months. I changed the strings to a different gage and a lot of the "buzzes" (which were prominent on the low string) went away, but it still doesn't have the sustain I would like. But, you get what you pay for. As I said this is an "alright" bass for the money but not one of the best I ever had.

This was great for my first semi-pro bass. I've had one good bass before this (GSR200) but this one is miles ahead of that. I know there are other basses out there that are better than this one but for the money it's extremely versatile.

I got this bass about 3 months ago and this thing is a BEAST... The neck is definatly fast and the neck is also not to slim. Sounds GREAT no matter what kind of music you play. Definatly a must buy for anyone looking for a high end bass for a low end price.
