Natural, Rosewood Fretboard 3-Tone Sunburst, Maple Fretboard

Unbelievably precise, rich, and flexible tone comes from active Lakland pickups—a classic single-coil at the neck and MM humbucker with coil tapping at the bridge. Preamp with cut/boost bass, sweepable mid, treble; panning pickup blend; master volume that can be pulled for preamp bypass; and master trim give you complete tonal command. Flat-sawn maple neck, rosewood or maple fretboard, and ash body provide fat resonance and amazing looks. 35" scale length, 22 frets.

Lakland luthiers now do their fret work using Plek technology to assure optimum playability. Plek is a CAD/CAM machine with scanning capability. It was developed to perform high-speed, highly accurate fret dressing, nut and bridge slotting and shaping, and engraving work. When used by an experienced luthier, the Plek machine produces necks with fretwork and action that equal the very best handwork and does it consistently.

Very versatile bass guitar. Rich, fat, warm, bottom end, nice nasely mids, and crisp treble, it has a very well rounded sound. Definitley worth the money and is the last bass I will ever need.

I have owned alot of basses in my day but this is by far one on the best. The neck is easy in the hand, the tone is so vary it doesn't matter what your looking for this bass will get you there. I like them so much that I brought a fretted & frettless. These basses are going to be in my home for a long time.

A Great Bass for the Money

I had to take some time to learn how to use all of this bass's features. I didn't care for the sound with the factory defaults, but I made a few adjustments and now it really kicks. I should note that the changes were for my personal tastes.

The first adjustment was to change the midrange frequencey via a pair of dip switches inside the bass. The factory default is 400 hz. I changed it to its lowest freq, 250 hz.

Next, the strings. I noticed (with my attack), the sound was a bit unbalanced, with the E and B strings too boomy and the top strings too tinny. This problem was fixed with a new set of nickel strings (I believe it comes with stainless steel strings from the factory), run through the bridge instead of through the body. Played with all treble, mid and bass wide open and volume at about 75%, it has incredible punch on all notes.

One of the best Basses ever

These guitars are called made over seas but I can tell you only the body and the neck of these guitars are built in Korea. The final assembly and set up is done in Chicago and what the result is is a bass that is worthy of the 4000.00 American made guitar. These guys do it right. If you are in the market for a new bass. and don't have a lot of dough get one of these and you won't be happier. And the customer service is awsome.

Great neck, great sounds

This was my 6th bass and I believe I've finally found the keeper. It has a great playing neck, string spacing was really important to me and the 55-02 really spreads them out to give you some breathing room whilst making the neck still comfortable enough to play. It has a lot of sounds but maintains a ver modern tone. I can't simulate my P-bass exactly which I'm keeping, or the pure growl of a Stingray either, but it has a very musical vibe all it's own. I run it the blend 75% on the bridge pickup with the split toggle to the rear and get the tone I'm looking for. Great bass for the price, maybe the best 5 string for the price on the market.
