Rocking the Bass Podxt Pro

I have used this now for 4 years. I bought it when it first came out. I use it live and in the studio. It is utterly the most flexible rig on the planet. Live, in small settings, I can just simply run the Bass Pod through the foldback monitors, and for larger settings I can feed an on-stage amp as well as sending the effected signal to the mixing console. In the studio, I can send the effected signal to a track and the uneffected signal as well for a safety track for re-amping if needed. The Bass Podxt excels for re-amping in the studio. I'm quite content with the sound I can able to get from the Bass Podxt. I do not believe a bassist shoud be without one!

Too Much?

This is a really fun piece of multi effects to play with but i'd say most of it's features are highly impractical for any kind of music unless you play some really trippy experimental stuff. In the recording studio, bass can't be done without a pre amp and this, in my opinion, is what the pro was made for. This baby is jam packed with recording features which can become very useful in the recording studio and combines a lot of functions into one unit which is convenient. My only recommendation before buying this is checking out it for yourself and seeing how many of these features you can actually put to use.

Read the manual and your possibilities are endless. Great effects, eq and mix any cab with any amp. Save your creations to 64 slots of memory. Half of the presets are top notch and ready to roll. In the studio this this is great. Live I run it thru the effects loop of my BMaxT preamp. The Pod is so tweakable with plenty of memory that I don't have to touch my preamp or Ampeg BR2 during a gig, just switch to the next preset! I run all this thru my 2 Hartke 4X10 cabs. With the Bass POD XT I can make my rig sound like anyones rig! Good value!!!

I've had this about a year, but have a full time career, so I still haven't figured out all the many things this baby can do. What it does do, without much fuss, is allow you to dial in a wide variety of sounds. Pair it with a high quality amp and run the signal through a worthy cabinet and this could be all you ever need. I chose a Behringer Power Amp 2500 watts, and some used Trace Elliot cabs (4 x 10 and 1 x 18). The bi-amping feature comes in handy, since I can push all the lows through the 1 x 18 and send the mids and highs through the 4 x 10s. Sweet! I do wish, however, that I'd gotten a better power amp. The Behringer is not bad, but it's not as good as Crate or Peavey gear. Rock on!

Great Piece Right Here

I got this thing cause the jazz/vocal combo I'm in has been doing very small (in a 4star General's living room!) gigs and everyone has to plug directly into the PA, because lugging 3 amps into his house is (as we say in the army) a NO-GO. The Podxt is PERFECT for this type of playing situation, where I want to get a nice modeled tone for both my upright and electric, all in the space of 2 racks. The presets are great and USEABLE, same as the effects, and tweaking the presets is so freaking easy with a quick read through the manual...which I have to commend on being the greatest and FUNNIEST user manual I've ever encountered. Line6 really knows who they are making gear for, so they even made the manual to be FUN to read. I'm thoroughly impressed, although I have heard that using this thing for recording via the USB is not ideal. But for live applications, this thing is too easy. Digital stuff I actually like!?!? What is the world comming to?
