The Line 6 LowDown LD400 Pro is a bass amp that offers venue-filling volume and LowDown tone in a powerful and punchy 2x10 combo package. Boasting a relentless, fully adjustable Rock tone, and 4 additional required tones ranging from R&B to Grind, the LD400 Pro bass amp offers power, versatility, and commanding tonal definition for the pro player.

The Line 6 LD400 amp also comes with a crucial set of 5 effects, led by a dedicated studio-quality compressor based on the LA-2A, and including a Smart Control FX Envelope Filter, Octaver, Chorus, and a full-featured bass Synth with fully adjustable parameters.

Designed for the gigging bassist, the LD400 Pro is a versatile amp that features an array of necessary ins, outs, and hardware, including an NL4M-series Speakon speaker output for an external cabinet, a balanced XLR direct output with exclusive A.I.R. processing, a 1/4" preamp output, and a pair of brawny 10" speakers ready to rattle some ribs and project your sound.

Amp Models: Clean
Inspired by the Eden Traveler, this model is all about clean, funk, and fusion bass tone. It'll give you warm lows and punchy highs.

R&B
Inspired by a '68 B-15 Flip Top, this model is a tribute to those clean, fat, bass tones of the late 60's and early 70's. It is the kind of tone you hear on most Motown recordings, as played by the pioneering young bassist James Jamerson.

Rock
This model is inspired by the '74 Ampeg SVT which has appeared on innumerable recordings and arena stages worldwide. Now, all the tone of the head and 300-pound behemoth 8x10 cab is available without having to lookup a chiropractor.

Brit
Based on a '68 Marshall Super Bass, this model delivers the kind of overdriven bass sounds brought to us by late '60s British rock pioneers like Cream and The Who.

Grind
As the name would suggest, this is for the modern rock sound of the late '90s and the new millennium popular in bands like Alice in Chains, Mudvayne, and Rage Against The Machine. Based on a distorted SansAmp PSA-1 into an SVT with a direct clean bass signal mixed in, this model gives you that angry, clear, and punchy aggression that cuts through the mix and takes your sound to DEFCON 1.

Effects models: Compressor
This pro LA-2A-style compressor is ideal for helping every bass player - particularly the ones who play with their fingers - achieve a smooth and consistent signal at any volume.

Envelope filter
Based on a Q-Tron, this envelope filter effect can be heard on tons of major funk and rock tunes.

Octaver
Based on the EBS OctaBass, this effect produces a single note one octave below the note you're playing to add a powerful new vibe to your sound.

Chorus
Based on the much loved T.C. Electronic Chorus, this transparent, smooth, and expressive chorus was built for bass, and using it won't reduce your low end. It's an especially beautiful complement for fretless basses.

Synth
Sitting at the back of the model knob is this secret weapon that turns LowDown into a '70s classic bass synth. From funk to modern rock, this fully adjustable synth delivers incredible tones while tracking every dynamic move you make.

I was very very excited to plug this monster in and start rumbling. Don't care for the grind and synthe. I have no use for these modelings, but the rest are great. This amp allows you to change your sound almost effortless. Great tones and great volume.

I had a chance to play through one of these amps a while back. I am just a beginner but am starting pick up on what does and does not sound good. This thing sounds dam good. It's no high dollar mesa or ampeg, and I'm not exactly sure where I come down on the whole modeling thing yet. But for someone like me, I can start playing around with a lot of different sounds with out droping a lot of serious cash.

I had a chance too play this amp, and needless to say I was quite disappointed First off all, Line 6 does not start off with any good sounding amp models, average is the best I can rate them. As a bass player I want a good sounding amp first. The fact that the amp has some effect and other capabilities is nice, but if it doest sound FIRST, all is for nothing. My major concern with this amp whereas it is loud, but it does sound muffled, and it is truly missing missing the adjustable horn. The best thing has is its construction and its compressor. If you'rer not particularly concern about your sound coloration, and effects is your thing, then this is amp is for you, otherwise, I strongly suggest you consider another manufacture.

Powerful / Versitile / Value

Let me start by saying that I am a gear guy. I have a bunch of basses, and a few amps. The last combo I bought was rated at 250 watts. I thought it should be PERFECT for those "background music" type of gigs. It was WAY under rated in power.

The biggest reasons I chose this was: more power - 400 watts should do the trick. Versitility - I am a Line6 fan, and appreciate their "swiss army knife" approach. This amp also needed to have wheels. I don't want to take my moving equipment to a dinky gig.

This amp scores maximum points on all of them. Well, -1/2 point for the little wheels. The sound is as versitile as they come. It is well made, and sounds great! It highly recommend this to anyone who plays multiple styles in the same set.

GREAT JOB Line6!
