The MXR M288 Bass Octave Deluxe is a dual-voice octave pedal using MXR's 18-volt Constant Headroom Technology (CHT) to provide studio-performance headroom and superior tracking. Use the Dry knob to mix your direct bass signal with the octave effect, or hit the Mid+ switch to add up to +14dB of internally adjustable low-mid punch (400Hz) or midrange pop (850Hz). Bass players love the 2 separately processed and individually voiced octave controls Growl (for throaty, midrange octave-below tone) and Girth (for deep and smooth octave below). The Bass Octave Deluxe boasts a durable, lightweight aluminum casting and has the same high-quality jacks and switches that make MXR pedals the road-ready standard on pedal-boards around the world.

Constant Headroom Technology
The MXR CHT circuit produces 18-volts of headroom from a single 9-volt battery or external power source. CHT utilizes voltage step-up techniques, which supplies constant 18-volt headroom regardless of source voltage. For example, CHT will produce 18-volt headroom from a used battery down to 4.5-volts and voltages up to 30-volts. CHT also protects against incorrect reverse polarity and AC voltages.

This pedal packs a solid 1-2-3 punch that's unbeatable for it's price. Tweak the growl and girth knobs to get that octave below tone you need for any song. Set the dry knob past 2 o'clock to get a slight gain with a sub-bass growl. Turn the dry to minimum to get a synth'y keyboard octave below sound.You can also use this pedal just to put your sound towards the front of the mix with the mid+ switch. I know I haven't fully exhausted it's potential since I've only had this baby for less than a month but I encourage anyone to give this a try. Play with it for 5 mins and you'll bring it home for sure.

I got this to replace a Boss OC-2 and I love this thing. Octave pedals are not for everyone. But if you use this right, it really adds some great sounding effects to your rig. Great for soloing, adds a nice punch while you rip on high notes. It tracks as well as any I've ever used. It kicks.

I have been searching for an analog octave pedal for years to replace my old Boss OC-2. I've gone through about 4 in my lifetime (stolen, lost, broken etc.) This pedal is more than a replacement. It has taken the analog octave pedal to the next level with better tracking, clearer tone (thank you mid switch!), and higher headroom. I've owned the EBS Octabass as well---tracks good (but not as good as the M288) but gets lost in the mix. It might work for smooth jazz guys, but not for us rockers. CHECK IT OUT!
