A must for any bass player

This thing is hands down the best DI box out there. I spent at least an hour at my local music store trying to pick between the M-80 and the Sansamp. I ended up bying the M-80 and its worth every penny. The color switch makes even the cheepist bass sound amazing. You can get any level of distortion out of it simply by adjusting the Gain and Blend controls. The noise gate isn't perfect, but still very useful. I haven't used it to record yet, but on stage its a must. Its built like a tank and made to handle the most intense shows.

This thing is wonderful......until it randomly breaks. It sounds awesome. It makes everything sound beautiful. The eq and color switch are great, the distortion is awesome, blend knob is cool, the noise gate is ok. It doesn't cut everything out and still has a little bit of hiss. The phantom power thing never worked. The problem i had with mine is the output just suddenly stopped. All i get out of it is a hiss and random little popping sounds. Dunlop customer service sucks. They never emailed me back. I guess ill try again and buy another one just like my Crybaby. If it breaks again i will never buy from Dunlop ever again. I am sick and tired of my MXR and Dunlop gear breaking.

Great Job!

I was looking for subtle clean eq with separate distortion and found it. Nice job MXR. The clean channel is a simple bass, mid, treb eq. Perfect. I don't need to change the sound of my fender p bass, I just want to tweek it from time to time. I already have a great eq on my amp. What I love about this pedal is the distortion channel has it's own eq. You can dial in the exact fuzz you want for solo's or blend the 2 channel's and leave both channel's on! Built tough. You can't go wrong.

I was shocked to read a such a bad...

I was shocked to read a such a bad review on this pedal, especially claiming that it would only enhance a bad-sounding amp, so I had to speak up. I've been gigging & recording for 20 years. My main rig has been an American G&L SB-2 running through a professionally maintained 1977 Ampeg SVT 400W tube head (anyone who has played bass for very long knows that these are the "holy grail" of bass amps) w/ 2 Peavey 15" Black Widow cabinets. I've used lots of different pedals throughout the years & this one has to be hands-down one of the best I've ever owned! So much so, that it has become a mainstay in my equipment list. I've used Sansamps & although they are decent, the MXR M-80 offers more versatility, control & "bang for the buck". It works great for fine-tuning your sound w/ your amp & for going straight into the mixing console (live or recording). If anyone plays w/ an MXR M-80 after 1st getting it & cannot get a good sound w/ it, I would suspect either it may be defective (any & every manufacturer can have them - nobody's perfect) or that perhaps the player is using an active bass w/ a near-dead battery in it. ;)
