The Markbass Micromark bass combo is an amplifier that is less than 9" in any direction. Despite only a 6" speaker, the Micromark is a practice amp with deceptively loud volume and the kind of sound quality you'd expect from a B&C speaker with Markbass electronics. Pumping out 50W of power, the Micromark amp boasts a mini-plug for attaching your CD or MP3 players, to help you master your favorite licks.

The Markbass Micromark amp has a Variable Pre-shape filter for boosting lows around 35Hz and highs around 10kHz, and cutting mids at 380H-which is perfect for rockers and slap bassists alike. There's a volume control knob, headphone jack, XlR output for recording and live situations, a ground lift to eliminate hum, and a 1/4" jack tweeter out for the optional Markbass satellite tweeter.

I've been using several practice amp for some years, yeah I can hear, but not totally satisfied with the sound. This little amp lets the sound of the wood and pickups come at you at a volume your neighbors wont scream at. All my active basses give me more tone flexibility cause the amp has two knobs. I'm looking at an outboard pre-amp for my passives. One other sweet thing is the XLR out to my power amp and big cabs. Been at it for 45 years, still love new toys. This ones a keeper.

Pro's: -Loud!(headphones out as well as speaker) -Compact and lightwheight (smallest 50Watts basscombo in the world) -Good quality buid, strong! -Speaker on/off switch -Extra tweeter-out Cons: -No EQ! Only VPF (= Enhance) -Definately misses a VLE knob! -Constant Fan-noise on the back, comparable to a southbridge fan, or fan of a small PC videocard. -Line in signal changes when changing VLE! -Too Expensive! -internal speaker arround 80Hz-3~5Khz In short: In soundquality it is comparable to a Nemesis N8 40W; Has good upright or slap sound. The combo misses the fundamental frequency (which is normal for an amp this size), but the second harmonics are heard quite well! Amp is missing flexible sound and is way too expensive! I would suggest users who won't mind a x2 wheight and x2 size to go with the x3 cheaper Nemesis N8 amp instead.

Amp is good for 4 piece accoustic band (Conga, acc.guitar, piano and upright bass)with lower volumes, or as bedroom practice amp.

Good amp,missing 2 things

Here where the findings that made a POSITIVE impression on me: 1- Does have a VPF filter (an enhance knob which enhances the lows and highs) 2- This ultra light amp has similar wheight of 10Watt practice amps. 3- Packs 50Watts of sound in the size of a football! 4-Speakers on/off knob (good if you want to practice with headphone alone).

NEGATIVE remarks: 1-Has a noisy fan (similar to a laptop fan) which turns on at full speed from the moment you power up this amp. 2-Does not have a Gain, EQ, or line/tuner out appart from the DI (3-pinn mic cable connection) 3- MISSES THE VLE filter!!! a true bummer!!! The VLE filter, found on all other markbass amplifiers gives you a true vintage sound. It's much better then a treble knob, but unfortunately this filter is NOT present on this device! 4-Does not have the volumeknob for the optional tweeter or DI.

Overall conclusion: The fan is loud (non-controlled), the features are only very limited for a 50W amp,it is the lightest and highest quality 50W practice amp of the world, and for it's small price and power you definately pay lots for that!

I am also concearned about the driver. It a 5" neo driver, and the cabinet isn't ported. I fear the quality of the Neo degrading due to higher internal temperature (the heat can't escape the closed cabinet).

I would recommend this amp for accoustic band play, and as a bedroom practice amp. I would also recommend this amp for the more serious travelling bassist who aims for a quality sounding practice amp; though the 50Watts is not good enough for live-bandplay. Also an excellent amp for upright!
