This little bass amp is affordable and ready to rock - it's a Marshall!
The Marshall MB15 is a 15 Watt combo bass amp with features that belie its size. 2 channels offer both classic and modern voicing. The Modern channel has a handy compression feature to allow you to practice with awesome, high-volume sound at a level that won't have your neighbors calling the police. The Classic channel sports the tried-and-true volume and gain knobs you know and love. A 3-band EQ allows further tone shaping, a CD-in jack allows you to easily jam with recordings, and a 1/4" line-out jack plugs you right into the PA, a recorder, or external speaker.
Marshall MB15 Bass Combo Amp Features:
Modern/Classic switch
Modern channel: volume knob, compressor knob with switch and LED
I recently bought the Marshall BM15 as a practice amp for an apartment. My major requirements were decent sound, headphone jack and cd in. This amp pretty much nailed it.
i have been playing guitar in bands for 20 years, but have been playing a LOT of bass for the past 5 years.
i looked at other amps in this price range and this amp seemed to have the clearest sound. the two channels have distinct differences, and the EQ is nice for tweaking. the compression doesn't do anything for me, i can't really hear much of a difference. of course if you use compression right, you won't hear it.
i play a yamaha TRB1005 with active pickups and this guitar sounds great through it. the Low B rings true, with little to no speaker rattle, although the metal grate on the front did get a little rattle when i pushed the volume.
i have no intention of ever gigging this amp, as at 15 watts, it wouldn't do itself justice playing with a drum kit, or any of my guitar amps. but this isn't what i bought it for. this is an all around solid PRACTICE amp. if you want to jam with people, get something bigger.

I just bought this amp today with an Ibanez GSR200 (I think that's what it is). Anyway, it's an active bass. Just got them for recording, I have everything else just needed a bass.
Now, this amp can give some decent to good tones, but the 8" speaker rattles like butt. I'm thinking of trying to rig it up to a nice 10" speaker instead.
So, to sum up. It's fine at low volumes. It can give you some nice tones. I think the "classic" channel is crap. And it can barely handle low notes.
I would recommend saving your money and skipping these practice amps all together. If I was more serious about bass I would've got a little Ampeg or G.K combo.
Happy playing.

Just received this amp that was purchased as a 'scratch and dent'. I was concerned about the 'blem(s)', but looked it over very carefully and couldn't find a one.
This amp may be the perfect practice amp. For 15 watts, it's a comfortable enough volume to practice with a guitarist or keyboardist or just to play along with a CD or MP3. It's a 'no frills' amp that's got excellent tone through the speaker or a quality set of headphones.
I plug in my MP3 and just in the few hours I've owned it, I've already improved my playing and am having a blast.
No longer confined to my music room, I can now 'rock out' beside my wife on the sofa while she watches the tube.
For the price, this little Marshall rocks!

Well it is a "practice" amp, but for the price this little amp has some good features. Classic/Modern channels show quite a bit of difference in sound, and thanks to the EQ you can tweak them even further.
I am also surprised at how loud this little amp is. I bought it so I wouldn't have to lug home my bigger Fender amp for practice/writing sessions. It's volume is more than enough for practice, small cafe gigs, or just a quick jam session.
I am not the type to spend my money without doing research and after all of the research I did, this litle amp was on the list of possibilites. I am glad that I chose this one, it sounds great!

Surprising Features For A Small Practice Amp

As a bass player for over 44 years, I have always been intrigued with the Marshall personna and how it appears to be every rock guitarist's dream to own one. My 30 watt Pignose Hog 30 finally gave out after 7 years of excellent service. I had every intent to purchase another one, but I saw the Marshall a little cheaper in price, so I decided to give it a try. The 15 watt Marshall was actually louder and bassier than the 30 watt Pignose plus there are much more EQ options. The two disappointments was that the amp handle fell apart after about six months of transporting it around. The other disappointment was that the amp was assembled in Vietnam.
