Perfect design for its intended use

So I picked this guy up in a rushed state of necessity. I Just sold my truck and picked up a little sports car that can get the job done with my gear, but it's quite a pain. Hauling around the usual gear includes a 1/2 size upright, a marcus miller j, and either my custom built 6x10 flip top combo, or the eden stack. I was late, I grabbed the upright, and hit one of the shops I used to teach at to talk to a trusted salesman. We walked over to about 50 amps, and he pointed at the little marshall and, in trusting his opinion, I said I'd take it. Showed up to practice expecting a headache fighting the little baby amp to get the job done, and much to my suprise, everything sounded good, even without pluging in the Fishman preamp. I half expected a thiner, more rock sound, but it was great. Perfect for this little practice session. I brought it home and got to exploring, and I loved everything that came out of it. Every setting sounded exactly how I wanted it to, for every style I could think of, on the stand up, and the J bass. Dont expect to play gigs with it just because of the power, but it definetly exceeded expectations. Can't beat it for the money.

Tons of tone options to play with. With the gain up it really growls (using a Squire J-Bass). Compressor on clean ("modern") channel is VERY useful when playing loud. With the volume on 10 it is just the right volume to go with an acoustic-electric guitar that is through a PA, though I highly doubt it could compete with a drum set. The line out is 1/4, not XLR, so that's another thing that could lower its live potential. Like I said, it's loud enough on its own (i.e. not line-out) with an acoustic-electric guitarthrough a PA, but not much more. Excellent tone. Highly recommend it as a first bass amp or practice amp for anyone.

Great amp, for what I paid!

I purchased an MB30 amp, used, for $55. It sounds great, and pretty clear, despite the poor-quality pickups on my MIM fender jazz bass. The classic/modern selector lets you choose between a modern sound with compression, or a classic sound with gain, which is great as I don't have my own distortion pedal. It plays well with my bass, as well as several guitars (I'm the only bassist in a family of 5, and 3 of the other 4 play guitar.)

It has some cabinet rattle, but other than that, it's a great amp. If you need a good bass amp, and 30 watts is enough for you (which it is, unless you're using it on stage at a noisy, crowded gig), then consider the marshall MB30.

This is a solid and powerfull amp. Nice tone. The only down side was that the excess features didn't follow through. Three settings with the amp itself are great! The others were not what I desired. Ibanez has a 35 practice bass amp that is equal and more fairly priced. If this amp was $30 cheaper it would be a good deal, but it is not a rip off either. I will only sell it to get a Fender Rumble, until then or if I get the Fender Rumble without having to sell my MB30 I will keep it. It is better than most but a little to pricy. You will get three good tones from the amp alone. A good effects box or foot pedal combo will make that meaningless and the MB30 can rock a house real well. Over all I am happy, but I would reccomend the Ibazez 35 watt bass amp. It cuts to the chase and is more affordable. I use an ESP ltd bass that is a beginners guitar so that might be my issue instead of the amp, but when I have used other amps their accessories worked out better I.E 7-10, instead of 3-10. But in Marshall's defense they are an electric guitar brand and a great one. Nice day

It's a Marshall...a baby Marshall

This amp is just what I was looking for...a good quality small amp for practice. It is compact and not too heavy. The quality of construction is just what you expect from Marshall. It will do a fine job as a practice amp but you really wouldn't expect a small amp like this to carry a room with a couple hundred people in it would you? The amp has good tight sound and provides plenty enough bottom to deliver a satisfying practice experience. No, it's not one of the big boys but it'll do an excellent job when used as it was designed to be used.
