The Marshall MB450H is a powerhouse amp head for your bass. It wallops a massive 450W of total bass power when connected to 2 extension cabinets. All that's left to do now is to choose your preferred choice of cabinets so you can plug in and rock!

Both channels-Modern and Classic-have separate EQ. The Modern channel features bass, treble, parametric mid and a compressor. The Classic channel with its ECC83 preamp valve includes a Boost switch, and it has a 3-band passive tone network with 3 different voices. Like the high-wattage Marshall combo amps, the MB450 bass head has the option of blending the 2 channels either from the front panel or via a supplied 2-way footswitch.

I was playing an Ampeg B2R through an old Ampeg cabinet and the cabinet blew something. So I decided it was time to buy something new instead of used for once. When I looked again at new Ampeg, the prices were blowing my budget away. I stumbled upon this Marshall head and 410 cab in a local store. I plugged in and was amazed at the deep and clear low tones I was getting. I really dig the setup on the head. The classic/modern options, boost switch, etc. I was able to get it at a more realistic price compared to Ampeg and still get the ampeg tones. When I performed through it at the first show I received kudos from my sound guys which are bass players themselves. They had never heard the Marshall bass equipment. I do agree the head and the cabinet are heavy. I plan to get some wheels installed on the head. I also agree that the compressor button seems to be bunk and does nothing. Overall, I found exactly what I needed and feel the Marshall 450 bass head and 410 cab is a good buy. Amazingly punchy and loud.

love it. the clean channel isn't as bad as everyone tries to make it sound. for a clear bass sound its much better than the tube, but I guess if you're getting a Marshall that's not really the point... great for my dinosaur jr. covers, I especially like the footswitch

I bought this cab along with the mbc410 to replace the amp I was using. I had a 100 watt combo amp before this and needed to upgrade because I couldnt compete with my guitarists or drummer. I used to have my old amp turned up to 10 and was worried about blowing the speaker, but I havent gone past a 3 with this new setup so ill never have to worry about that. I was getting a weird buzz when I first hooked everything up, but that turned out to be my instrument cable. That went away once I bought a new one. I also replaced the speaker cable that came with this with a monster cable. Great set-up. The only other thing I plan to do is pick up the mbc115 to finish off the stack. Buy this!

In a store, I played on an ashdown mag 300 with 410, trying out some amps. Then I played on this one.

The day I bought it home the tube broke, but it was taken back the next day and got repaired, now its good as ever.

PRO's This is the loudest 450 watt amp ever. the tube preamp sounds like an ampeg, warm bassy but cuts through really well, you can go from a clear crisp tone to a dirty distortion with the flick of the boost button and boosting the gain.

The blend feature is really good when you want different tones, I find that is the best way to use the solid state pre amp.

Tts got speakon and 1/4" jack outputs which is awsome.

CONS The solid state pre amp. I cant find a good eq, so I mix it with the tube pre amp.

Its 450 watts at 2 ohms 300 at 4 ohms 180 at 8 ohms, which means you need to buy 4 ohm cabs to get any form of power, no biggy, just you dont have as wide range of cabs to use.

Overall this is an awsome head for the price and is worth getting

Got some great sounds from this amp, and its got a fair bit of go to it as well. The Classic channel is rather good, can get some great dirt into the mix, there is also a boost button that gives you more gain (distortion), which works well. Both channels have seperate eq and can be blended togethter, so really 2.5 channels The boost switch should be on the foot switch, but isnt. The compressor on the 'Modern' (clean) channel is rubbish, just dont use it! The fan is a 2 speed unit and isnt that quiet. Over all the amp has the ability to be rather versatile, but it takes some knob twiddling to work it out, try it your self, most people in the shops dont know how to use this amp. Would be nice to have the writing above the knobs, hard to see when your above it what they do. Above all, you must listen to what the Rahnu says.. I run it with the Marshall 4x10
