The Tony Levin Signature 5-String Bass is based on the MusicMan Bass Tony uses. OLP manufactures it under license to MusicMan to its design and quality requirements. Tony Levin is mainly recognized for touring with Peter Gabriel and King Crimson, but those bands encompass only a small portion of his work. A major studio bassist, Levin has worked with Lou Reed, Dire Straits, Pink Floyd, Alice Cooper, John Lennon, and Carly Simon, to name a few. The Toni Levin Signature 5-String is an exceptionally fine instrument for its price.

OLP Tony Levin Signature 5-String Bass Features:

  • Active electronics with 3-band EQ
  • Trademarked 4+1 headstock design
  • White pearl pickguard on peach
  • Tortoise shell pickguard on natural
  • 34" scale
  • 5-string only

A sweet axe for a small price. Order it.

OLP nailed it!

I bought this to use primarily as a backup for the summer season but ended up using it as the main bass on more than 1 occasion. It sounds great, is easily set-up, and has a rock-solid, smooth playing neck. The truss rod adjustment wheel is a fantastic idea, I wish every manufacturer used that. The clear top layer of the pickguard is peeling up in one small place, but otherwise no issues at all.

Very Good Value for the Money

For the price, I shouldn't complain about the small quality issues my OLP has - like 1) the peghead could have used a little more sanding on its edges or the finish is a little thin there, 2) the nut is off-center about 1/8", 3) a couple fret ends could have been smoothed better or that, from a design perspective, it could use an active/passive on/off switch. These are very minor at best and I have to say that I am actually very impressed with this instruments overall quality - especially considering how inexpensive it is. Mine only needed minor string height adjustments out of the box to be good to go. Well done OLP - shows that China is capable of producing good products with the right QC.

A 5 string bass for all level players

The Tony Levin Signature 5-string bass offers a relatively thin neck with moderate depth. This might seem a disaster in the making, but the build quality felt like, "must get," and that is rare for for any instrument I try out. Single humbucker, active electronics and truly fun to play, comfortable instrument that makes it's cost almost seem funny. Every instrument has a realistic cost, and at the current amount the value is quite high. Strongly recommended for its form and function, comfort when playing and all around good sound. My Tony Levin was in the standard Orange and maple neck. For those that remember it looks like an inverted dreamsicle in bass guitar form.

In all a fine instrument at 2 - 3 times the price.

The OLP Tony Levin Signature 5-String Bass is a great deal. I've made several previous purchases online, but this is the first time I've felt strongly enough to comment. Mine played very well straight out of the box. I was planning on purchasing a Stingray 5, but decided to take a chance on the OLP model, since it seemed nearly identical for 1/4th the price and I don't play bass exclusively. It plays at least as well as any bass I’ve ever tried, and every one of my professional bassist friends agrees that it sounds like a much more expensive instrument and that they'd use it anytime without hesitation.

This bass rocks. The only thing it's missing is the series/parallel/split switch and possibly some shielding. This is really close to a Stingray. Tony said he uses it interchangeably in the studio. Mine has a minor drip of urethane or something on the side of the neck, who cares? It has excellent action and tone and everyone says it sounds great. It's a really good deal.
