This is quite simplt, one of the best Basses made today. I've been playing bass for 25 years, and this bass can not only sound awesome for multiple styles of music, It is the most road worthy insturments going. I bought my Cirrus the first year they came out, and I don't play any other bass. I've had mine for over 10 years, and the only time I needed any maintenance, Peavey did it for free. Talk about standing behing a first rate product. I've played all of the so-called High end basses and none of them compares with a Cirrus!!

Warwick vs Peavey

I've owned a Warwick Corvette for some years now, but recently brought home a Peavey Cirrus after picking it up in a local music store. I can tell you the range of even sound coverage clearly beats the Warwick. I also like the "neck-thru" design and the full scale. The action is also lower and requires only a "feather" touch to key.
Peavey will soon rule the Bass market, mark my word! Sam James (40 year studio veteran)

Bubinga on Walnut Cirrus

I just bought a Peavey Cirrus Bass. It has bubinga on walnut wood. It is SOOOOO easy to play. It just feels right. I can play instinctively, and my fingers just do the right thing. I've owned an Alembic (which are beautiful), but this plays better. It's lighter than it looks. I have a Peavey Grind, which is nice, but the Cirrus is in a whole different class. I own four other basses, and I will start thinning the herd. NOT the Cirrus !!! The p'ups sound ok, but if she runs through a Trace Elliot and you are set !!!!

Most Comfortable Bass I've Played

I own a Peavey Cirrus 4-string Bass (with natural bubinga top). This seems to be the bass that I'll keep from now on. I've owned several other decent basses ranging from entry-level to about this same semi-pro level. The Cirrus is, by far, the most comfortable bass that I've ever played. The playability is THE reason that I'm keeping it and selling my Warwick Corvette Standard and my G&L L-2000. (Both of those are quality basses but just never "felt" as good as the Cirrus). The Cirrus is very light and just seems to hang perfectly. The neck is slim and fast and the extended upper horn keeps the lower frets within easy access.
I don't know if it's the dual expanding truss rod or the graphite re-inforcement in the neck (or probably both) but the action on this thing can be set lower than any other bass I've ever owned without any fret buzz. I used to prefer kind of high action but I think this bass is starting to convert me.
The first few times I tried Cirrus basses (before buying one), the sound of the pickups just blew me away. The active electronics allow for almost any sound. Now that I own one, I guess I'm used to it and no longer overly-impressed (but the playability is still something that I can't get over). I've never really considered Peavey products as "for real" (probably due to some unimpressive experiences with Peavey guitar amps and effects processors many years ago). After playing this bass, I've changed my mind.
Cosmetics are obviously a matter of preference. Personally, I don't like the way the gold hardware (tuners and bridge) looks (a little too "flashy" for my taste) but functionality is fine. (The bridge is solid and the tuners are smooth and stable). Also, I wish Peavey would've left the front of the headstock natural wood instead of painting it black with gold lettering. Other than that, the natural woods I've seen on the different Cirrus models look very professional.
The "list" price on this bass is pretty high but they seem to sell used at very reasonable prices. I don't think you can beat the quality or especially the playability of this bass.

The Best

I have owned this bass for about 5 years and it is the best. Sounds great, plays fast, and light weight. It is a little expensive (nothing ebay can't fix) but it is well worth it. If I had it to do over again, I would get the 5 string. Only because I hate tuning down. But if a four string is all you need, this bass is more than enough to keep anyone happy for years.
