I've owned my Cirrus 5 (Wenge) for 8 years, and it continues to be my go-to axe no matter what, where or when I'm playing. Great action, fast neck, versatile on-board eq, monster low B, balanced and rock-solid, I've played it against my pricier Alembic and Ken Smith basses and still come back to my Cirrus like a home cooked meal. Maybe the best testament to the true quality of this instrument is how EVERY time a bass player comes up to the stage, squints and says, "that's a Peavey? Damn."

WHen I took my student loan money to the music store, I was thinking about a top-of-the-line Ernie Ball or Fender Precision. There happened to be a Cirrus there, so I played it and was floored. It's got a great versatility of sound I used to get out of an old G&L L-2000, between the top and bottom pickups you can get the Jazz Growl or the Precision pop. It's an attractive bass, although it came with chintzy rubber control knobs. Very vibrant sound, I love it for playing blues and rock.

Outstanding Instrument!

I have had my Cirrus 5 string bass for approximately five years. I have owned several basses and have "auditioned" numerous others. Of the basses I tried and liked, the Cirrus outplayed the others and was far less expensive; we're talking about half the price or more. My first experience was with the bubinga model (with pau ferro neck). While it produces a smooth, warm sound, I found I preferred the maple body/maple neck/pau ferro fingerboard version, which sounded slightly brighter to me. Whether I play through my SWR Super Redhead combo or my LA-8 amps, the sound is fantastic; crisp, punchy (when necessary), and always controlled. Regardless of my style and the genre of the music I'm playing, the sound is always articulate and defined, without harshness. There is no other competitive bass anywhere near this price range, period!

The best bass I've ever played!

I bought one of the first Peavey Cirrus 5 basses when they came on the market. I have played about every brand bass there is and nothing compares to the Cirrus! Peavey really did their homework on this instrument. It has the tone, light weight, durability, looks and ease of playing. The only problem I've had with mine was a tuning machine broke, so I replaced ALL of them to be on the safe side. I have a fretless than I seldom play and am thinking about trading it in on another new Cirrus 5. It's the only bass I need!

I own over 50 basses and play rock fusion to blues. The Peavy Cirrus 5 5-String Bass is my rock on stage. The tone is versatile and the action is perfect. It is the best product for the dollar you can find.
