I cant tell a lie

I've test drove many bass guitars for the passed year. And some I'd tried more than once. I chose the the peavey cirrus bxp bubinga bass; For the tone, the construction quality, the neck, Its quality is as good as it looks. This bass feels & sounds better than basses that cost five times as much; this bass is the best all around. Though I must admit I learned to test drive more than one of the same model of a bass because some might have a defect and when you test one thats right you will know it. Even a few sales men said they do not understand the price of this bass..But there great at that price and there flying out the door.

great active modern bass

When I bought this bass, I was looking for a modern bass to have for variety (I own a 95 jazz). The active pickups allow lots of variety but won't fit in some types of music. Also the bridge saddles dont go as low as I like (I prefur extemly low action as I dont pluck very hard and like to let the amp do the work). My only other gripe is that the pickup pan knob makes a scratchy noise but only if you move it while a strig is viberateing, not a big deal. If your looking for a bass to cover modern music get it, if you into older music get a fender instead or get this for side projects like I did.

I have owned this bass for three years now and I truly beleive its one of the best 4-string basses out there in this price bracket. The active pickups and Peavey VFL circuitry command akin to the musicman stingray to a jazz bass. All in all it is an excellent bass, well worth the money.

Unmatched quality to cost ratio

This bass is amazing. Period. I joined a new band and they had bought this bass for their previous bass player to use, so I inherited it. When you're used to playing Fenders/Musicmans and Warwicks, this thing is like playing on air! The neck is slim and fast, with easy play up to the highest fret. The high bass lines in Freebird are no longer a problem! The only drawbacks are that there is no external battery access, meaning every time you need to change the 2 9V, you have to unscrew the back plate. Also, the is no active/passive switch, so the preamp is always on eating juice from the moment you plug it in. All in all, a good bass for the price! I'm getting a Fender Jaguar bass because it has an active/passive switch, and it looks more vintage to go with my band's classic rock feel.

A great step up

This is my third bass, after a starter Ibanez and then a Peavey Grind. And it's a BIG step up. I have the Tiger eye one, and it's gorgeous. The Bubinga was also great looking. I also have a HipShot drop-D tuner on it, and the active elctronics have been upgraded to the sweepable-mid model, which I feel has a huge impact on my ability to shape the sound. I'm not a seasoned enough (or wealthy enough) bass player to have played really high-dollar instruments to compare to, but to me, this bass is just succulent. It plays great (although the 35" scale is a lot for a novice or small-handed player to handle), and the sound is better than anything I've played yet. The only thing I'd have asked for is a better and more easily-adjusted bridge, but once it's set up, that wouldn't matter anyway. The thing plays, sounds, and looks great, and I didn't have to re-do the kitchen to justify buying it. Highly recommended, if you're looking in this price range.
