A Great Practice Amp

I've played bass for about 5 months and recently upgraded my equipment. When I got my new bass (an Ibanez SRX500 w/ active pickups) I went ahead and chose this amp over the Line 6 LowDown because this has more volume. The first thing I noticed was that it's pretty small and not too heavy which is very nice for hauling around to practice and its also built like a tank. The 4 knobs (master, low, mid, and high) basically do what they say they do. There's also a switch for vintage and modern sound, but I didnt notice an extreme difference between the two. I practiced with my band the other day and i was able to keep up with a Fender 212 and a Johnson 212 when they were set around 2 to 2 1/2 while I was set at about 70% on my bass (it distorts the amp if i go full volume) and 5 1/2 on my amp. I think the amp will distort if you go too much louder but you would just have to mess with different volumes from your bass. Your pickups (passive or active) will also make a difference. All in all, this does everything I wanted and I am very pleased with it. Truly a great practice amp.

GREAT FOR PRACTICE JUST NOT FOR GIGS

I just got this amp today because I was already in need of a small amp for a small gig I do at a restaurant thurs - fri every week. Well before I was using a behringer bx300 30 watt amp that I borrowed from a friend and it came out to be way better amp than this peavey I just purchased. And trust me I play a decent bass, I play a fender american precision deluxe bass and this amp just couldn't give me the tone I desired. The voice switch on this amp doesn't really have much impact with vintage & modern as options and even though I'm a fan of vintage sound I don't think this amp has true vintage sound. I also disliked the frequency response on this amp which I need lower so the sound can project further out to my audience. Over all I can say is my experience with this amp wasn't too good but just like any other small bass amp combo out there this one's good for individual practice at home and it doesn't have a bad price!

Well, I bought this amp after I gave my old practice amp to my brother. That had an 8" speaker in it and it couldn't handle my Ibanez SGR505 without distorting, so I was looking for something with a 10. Well, this amp is great. The vintage voicing mode sounds pretty nice. This is a great amp to practice with, and for small jam sessions. Overall, a great amp that does what its supposed to.

i got this amp for my first amp, if you need an amp to prac. with by yourself or with a band its perfect, its loud enough to play small gatherings but no gigs or anything, it has lots of tone features, its a very tuff amp and will not brake easily, for what you pay for you really cant beat this amp, peavey do an incredible job on this amp and there new model line amps
