It's funny because is has only 60 watts... OH MY LORD! CAN I BE HONEST? this amp sounds like 600 watts! Believe me, this thing is VERY LOUD enough to play on small to medium gigs! First of all, this is a PEAVEY that means RELIABILITY like Toyotas, Hondas, Mazdas...and it sounds awesome if you have a Jazz Bass because this amp has a perfect frequence for this type of bass. This amp has many features like 3 band EQ with mid frequence which I prefer than 4 band EQ. It's very simple and easy to get sound on this amp because it has Transtube voicing filter and sounds Awesome! you can get any kind of tone you want. The speaker has DDT protection, so you will never need to change speaker anymore. You can play LOUD with very little distortion and with clear tone. IT is a little heay but for me no big deal... Overall, this is a great choice if you are on budget or NOT! This amp blows away many other brands about price, power and reliability. I'm sure that will worth every your penny! BUY IT.

If you're looking for a nice amp at a good price, this is one for you. Nice features and controls. Although I would like more wattage, this amp can get it done... Some gigs may required the amp to be mic'd, but overall.. a good buy.

I am a young teenager and would say that this is a great amp for people who play medium to small gigs. I have heard about Peavey from my instructor, and this amp provides a smooth tone for my bass. I would be playing with practice amps, but they are distorted if you want a lower tone. A great investment, and I would encourage buying it.

I've owned this amp since it came out,And it suits my needs so far, I got it while my hartke head was in the shop, think this is heavy, try hauling around the hartke 3500 combo. I love the little amp, just needs a bit more power that's all. sounds great, small gigs no problum try it out, you'll be glad you did, when you count cash that's still in your pocket, saved!!!!!

I am a guitar player that started to play around with a bass, and I needed an inexpensive amp. At the music store, I tested 4 different amps in this price reange and settled on this one. I am a big fan of Peavey amps, but tried several different brands. The 15 inch speaker makes a huge difference. There is a much stronger sound than the 12" speakers were giving. The tone is nice, it is plenty loud enough for a bar-sized gig, and there are some nice features. Some things to consider: It is pretty big and heavy, and the Max115 does NOT have an aux jack for CD's or IPods. Another reviewer said that his guitar sounds really good through this amp. That is not very accurate as far as I am concerned. I tried it with a very good guitar and it sounded like a big muddy mess, regardless of how you eq it. It is a bass amp that will get the job done for a good price in a bar or small gig. If you are trying to buy one amp for both a guitar and bass, then buy a good PA setup and a DI box. I dont think you will too happy trying to make this amp something that it is not intended to be.
