PUNCHY MONSTER!

I've owned the 158 for a little over a year now and love it. i have never had a problem with it. It has more power than a 200 watt peavy guitar amp in such a little enclosure. It has held up to many gigs including being dropped off a 5 foot stage. The 158 has great tone and great lows for sure seeing how my Synths can get the nice crisp low end out of it too. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a decent amp at the price. It is LOUD!

I am a guitarist and drummer (and eventually bassist) and compared to my roland 15x cube guitar amp it's equal, in sound and they mix well. Now I've done practice with him with the guitar and bass and it sounds fine, but if we play it with my drums even if I'm barely hitting with any force, I can't hear a THING, even when he turns it up full blast. It's great for at home practice, or practice with other sized amps, but NOT for band practice. But it is a great starter amp and I will most likely get a peavey amp just like this for my first bass.

Great Practice Amp

I purchased this great little amp for my son, to go with his Squire Standard Jazz Bass. I couldn't believe the tone and the punch for a little 15 watt practice amp. Back in the day, I had a 40 watt practice amp that could not equal this one in volume, tone or quality. I could probably take this one to praise band (without a drummer), and use it for church services. I doubt if it would be serviceable with a heavily amplified group with a drummer, however. If you want to hear your bass to the best advantage during personal practice, this is THE amp for you.

I just purchased this recently, and i screams. I compared it to playing on a guitar amp, and, the bottom line is you have to get a bass amp is you have a bass. Overall, great sound, but a master volume control switch would be nice. I still think that there is no other this quality for this low price.

This amp is fine for people who aren't in a band or people who like distortion with their sound. If you are thinking you want a distortion pedal for this amp let me tell you DON'T!!!! You will ruin your bass sound because somehow once you put a distortion/metal pedal through the amp will keep the sound and make a forever lasting distortion sound. Waste of money but from what it was before. It was okay for a peavey MAX bass series amp.
