This thing growls like the beast that it is. This is one of the best(if not THE best) bass I've ever played. The only thing I changed personaly is I took off the piece that covers the bridge pick-up(can't remember what it's called) This bass is awesome, but i wouldn't reccomend it to begginers. The Ric 4003 is a beast. To put it simply, just buy it.

I bought a 4003 fireglo back in march and this thing is killer. The front pickup is incredible and the thing growls like no ones business. I did get a flaw though, my binding was cracking in some areas but it just played so nice i didnt really feel like returning it for that. But looking back on it i dont know if i should have. But its an overall great bass.

I bought my new ricky today. The 2009's have a thicker neck witch helps with tone. love the new fire glo seems a little darker witch makes it a beauty. I feel like id did in '69 with my first ricky 4001. Little pricey but you get what you pay for. hats off to rickenbacker for making a great bass even better..love mine..

I just got my Ric yesterday after...

I just got my Ric yesterday after coming back from a deployment. It's a mean bass to say the least. One thing that must be warned that if you've never played a rickenbacker 4003 is that these things are considerably heavier than most fenders or other brand of bass out there, but with that weight comes the most beautiful ringing tone I've ever heard out of an electric bass. It's almost like this thing is a hollowbody when heard through a hybrid or tube amp. It feels really great on the hands and the tonal pallete you have is great if you play with a pick, fingers, or do pop and slap. All in all, I've only owned this bass for two days, but I can already tell it is going to be my main axe.
