I played a vintage Fender 77 P-Bass back in college. Recently, I decided to get back into bass playing. After reading the reviews, I thought this would be a low cost way to resume playing (and my wife wouldn't object, like she would if I bought a 600-1500 dollar instrument.) Right out of the box, I am impressed with this little bass. Is it a vintage Fender? Well, no. But it has decent action (after a set up), and the sound is not bad. I had to do some set up because the action (out of the box) was a too high for my tastes, and the intonation was out on two of the four strings. If you are used to doing your own set up, you know that adjusting for this is no big deal. The Rogue stock strings are a little wangy sounding for my taste, so I changed them out pretty quickly. I decided to go back to my old favorite type of strings, Fender flatwounds. I chose to go with the smaller gauge (I used to play 105s on my E string). For this bass, I used Fender light weight flatwounds 9050 L (E string is .95 gauge instead of the more common 100 that most stock basses carry). With the really low action and the good strings, this baby is really working out well. If I end up playing bass (instead of one of my other instruments) for a church service, this will do a more than respectable job. Even if I step up to a Fender Jazz Bass in a few months, I'll keep this, and string it with some kind of esoteric strings like Fender nylon filament round wounds to get an different sound out of it. I also bought a Musician's Gear tweed bass case for this bass, and it is working out fine, but the body of the Rogue is shallow, so I had to pad the lower bout with a folded towel so the neck would rest properly in the case. That's a small adjustment, and I like the Musician's Gear cases for my purposes. All-in-all I am very pleased with this little bass after just a few days of using it.

After years of playing Low Brass Instruments in school, and then a few years of not playing anything I decided to pick up the electric bass. Wish there was a larger selection for lefties, also wish they had a 5 string version for lefties but oh well. For the price I was surprised at how nice this thing is, even the strings aren't bad. Very nice beginner bass, great sound. Probly down the line I'll slap on some new stings and maybe some active pickups..

Great bass. The sound is good and the action is respectable. It can take a beating and dish it back out...love the durability and the price...did have a problem with one of the wires, but it was a five min fix with a sautering iron. Awesome bass overall.

This bass is great! For the price, you can't beat it! The hardware is nice and smooth and very responsive. It also stays in tune very well. I play this bass at church every service and I love it. I have been playing for 12yrs. now, and this bass is just as good as any. Veteran or not, try it, you'll like it!

I got this bass a year and half ago when my buddies needed me to learn to play for them right away for their tour and let me tell you it's been nothing but a blessing. It hardly ever needs to be tuned and it's taken alot of beatings on the road and at the local shows but that hasnt changed a thing out of all my other axes this one has stood proud but you need a proper case to protect it.
