This bass is an incredible value, though you will need to invest in flatwound strings to attain that warm, acoustic-like thumping sound McCartney gets...the tinny factory issue strings do not work. I have a Digitech BP200 effects pedal that has helped me get amazing sounds from this great little bass!!!

This is such a great bass for the price. Its my first bass, but I have played others. It has such a beautiful tone, especially for the price. It doesn't have a very low end though, so its not great for metal or anything like that. My favorite thing about this bass is its size. Its very light weight. It has a shorter scale, and the neck isn't very wide so it was easy for me to start on this bass since I had previously been playing guitar. Two of my close friends, who have been active musicians for years, loved this bass. Great starter bass.

I bought this bass for something inexpensive to plunk around on at work. With some flatwounds and a rod adjustment, my newest (my 6th currently owned and 15th lifetime) bass is stunningly beautiful with alot of the embellishments of the Hofner Icon, and looks and sounds like a much higher-end instrument. Re-stringing this was at first a challenge, but now I will simply change one at a time in order to keep the unattached floater bridge from moving anywhere. While it may not be my Number One bass, it is definitely a real treat and fun to play!

I have been playing bass for 20 years now. I've had my Rouge for 10 years. I've played everything from a Jackson to Ric. This is by far the most comfortable and best sounding out of them all. I play it exculusively. Someday I'll get a Hoff. just to say I have one, but for the money you wont find a better bass ANYWHERE!
