SWR Super Redhead Combo

I recently sold mine and it was pre-fender BTW. I liked this cab a lot when I owned it but mine did not handle my active 5 string very good at all when I played on the B string. The tone of SWR is incredible don't get me wrong but I played out with this cab once after I bought it a couple years ago and because of that show I could not trust the redhead. It was a small venue by the way. I bought an SVT 4-pro and Ampeg 410hlf immediately to use for live gigs and kept the Swr redhead at home for practice. I paired my SWR redhead with an SWR Bigfoot 2X12. I had the bass turbo pulled out and gain set appropriately and yes it was a 4 ohm cab so everything matched up and no I don't abuse my stuff. My 4 string basses sounded great through it. Bottom line if you are gonna buy SWR and play a 5 string maybe play through the redhead first or try the 4x10 goliath with a separate head. P.S. I kept the SWR bigfoot 2x12 the Redhead just didn't work as well for me. I hope this helps.

The super redhead is a very versital and quality amp with great punch. Great tight low end, mids and highs that can bring tears to your eyes if your not careful. I have owned this particular amp for around 10 years, and not a problem, I have not even replaced a tube. I have played small rooms to very large rooms, even outdoor jobs(with 2-10 ext. cabs) I have never been disapointed. I use 4 and 5 string basses, the low "B" never bottoms out. I have owned the Eden "Metro" I had nothing but trouble from that amp, it smoking one night at a job and quit. Internally the Eden had dabs of silicone for insulaters that supported the main board. Needless to say, I was very disappointed in that amp and got rid of it. The S.W.R. will not let you down, It did'nt let me down.

Best Bass Combo Amp on the Market!

The SWR Super Redhead Bass Combo is the best music gear purchase I've ever made! I initially bought this as an amp for my electro-acoustic mountain dulcimer, as the Super Redhead's success with acoustic instruments is legendary. This is by far the purest and BEST amp I've ever played through in my 22 years as a musician, and its 105dB SNR is truly amazing! Coupled with my SWR Goliath Junior III 4-Ohm cab, the Super Redhead cranks out 450 watts of power, and its single 19" rack space is perfect for a Furman power conditioner or an effects unit. The Super Redhead also features a wooden front cover to protect the grille and controls during storage and transport, and the cover doubles as a tilt-back stand while you play. This truly is the best bass combo amp on the market, and I highly recommend it!

The Super Redhead is the soul mate for the NS CR4M or any double bass. This little amp packs some serious tonal capabilities and highlights the sweet tones/articulations of the double bass. My fretless Fenders take on a new light with the Redhead. I have been gigging with this amplifier for over a year and no issues, except for replacing a caster. I highly recommend this amplifier for both the gigging and sessions player. The ampfier's low-Z direct provides a very clean and controllable signal at the console which allows you to get the tone of your cabinet in the mains. The Super Redhead packs enough punch to cut through the loudest of stage mixes. No disappointmnets here.

This Amp is Awesome

I have owned this combo for about 4 years now. I've played large clubs (with an extension cab +100 Watts) I've recorded with it (Mic-ed up or line out-Sometimes both), I've played smaller venues with it, Played in Churhes and bars. I've done rehearsals with Jazz quartet, Blues band, Classic rock n roll, Thumpin' Funkin' (My Favorite), Pop and Punk Music. I've got a host of bases that I use. From Passive classic 4 strings, Fretless', and Active 5 strings. This amp makes em all sound good. Turn down the tweeter all the way for that classic P-bass thump or blues band finger style, Turn the tweeter up all the way for Thrash/Punk it handles it all. This amp has replaced all but the smallest of practice amps for me. I would recomend this Amp to anybody who see's themselves as a pro or future pro. The ONLY draw back is that as I get older it seems to get heavier. I wish that SWR had put a couple of handles on the top of it.
