I think this amp is nice and loud, but the tone leaves something to be desired. I went from a trace elliot head that fried and went to this. I cannot get anywhere near the warm tone of a Trace or Ampeg. This is going on ebay soon. This is not horrible, just doesn't have the wow factor. Spend the extra cash if you can, and go with something else.

This head unit may not have as many knobs as other heads, but the raw tone is undeniable. I have owned this head for close to a year now and the only negative thing I have to say about it is that for large stage applications it will be under powered. Easily fixable by purchasing the 700 model. Good Job SWR :)

Intensifier Please!

I recently switched from and old Earth Research head and fender 2x15 to this head with a 4x10 and a 1x15. Things fall off shelves, my guitarist now wears earplugs when we practice. Love it, sounds great looks great. I play 5 string fretless and it growls!Might have done well to get the 700 head, but this works very well for the venues we play. Turning off the intensifier makes it sort of tinny sounding, however, crank up the gain a notch and the sound is back.

SWR WorkingPro 400 is AMAZING!!!

I put the SWR through my Ampeg SVT-410 HLF(4ohm)cabinet and I get a clean although slightly-growly low end thunder. This is the sound I have always been looking for. I have used this amp and head combination on stage for a year now and I have had nothing but great performance everytime. The features are amazing as well. The "Bass Intensifier" delivers gobs of low end without distorting and the "Aural Enhancer" acts more like a "room tuner." You can always cut through the mix. Plenty of power too.

I paired this with one of my Ampeg 410 400 Watt 4 ohm Cabinets and the guys on the band all fell in love with the sound. The Aural Enhancer and the BASS INTENSIFIER are outstanding. All my other amps heads and amps are ampeg. Now I am convinced the SWR is a great choice. I recommend that you try one at your local music store and see what you think.
