An excellent all around bass

I've had this pack here (Affinity P-Bass) for about a decade. Funny enough, I've never felt the need to upgrade to a more expensive bass, because this one has treated me very well. New pickups at some point don't hurt, but right out of the box this axe sounded great.

As with any new instrument, you have to do a quick setup (action, intonation, pickup height), but after that you're ready to rock. The sound this bass produces has been wonderful, and the playability gets a solid 10/10.

One thing to consider is that Squier products seem hit or miss, with more hits than misses. What I mean is that some people get lemons, as with any product, and some get great quality products. I was lucky enough to play this one in my local guitar store, loved it, bought it, and haven't looked back. Buy with confidence.

Bought this package three years ago to start playing. The amp is a very good starter amp. Basic to use. Easy to understand. The bass strap is ok. Good for a while but then gets loose and falls off the bass. The bass itself is alright. My input jack became loose and i have to tighten it. The knobs fell off mine so I don't use them anymore which looks kind of dumb but i dont care. Overall its a good starter bass. Eventually you do outgrow it and need a new one.

Great for a beginner

I got this starter package for XMAS 2008 when I switched to bass. In my humble opinion I think this is a great way for any beginner with the bass to go. You get everything you need right here for a very reasonable price. The bass amp is excellent for practice and jam sessions, but in no way should be used for gigging or in large areas, it just isn't powerful enough. The bass itself is a beautiful instrument with some minor flaws that should not detract from any beginners quest to learn the instrument. There is some slight fret buzzing if you are not careful, but as with all instruments as you perfect your technique that goes away. It stays in tune pretty well. With mine the G string gets out of tune pretty easily, but other than that very little tweaking required. The tuner is passable, but once you advance in your playing and start buying additional gear this will be collecting dust in the corner. The strap is fine everyone,it comes with a strap lock, get your phillips head screw driver out, remove the strap locks, and put them back in over the straps. Simple, the strap is locked into place. Overall, I am very pleased with it. Felt I got my money's worth and will continue to use it as a giggins bass. Strongly recommended for the beginner learning to play.

My friend has this set and it is great for the money, probably the best value pack on the market. I owned 2 different value packs before and this is the best choice out there.
