Black Silverburst

The Sterling RAY34 Bass Guitar features a select solid swamp ash body for percussive lows, subtle mids, and expansive highs. The lightweight swamp ash brings out the nuances and clarity that Music Man basses are known for. Combined with a Music Man-designed Sterling active 3-band preamp, you get all the tonal combinations you could ever need. A single Music Man Humbucking pickup has alnico pole pieces for classic warm tones. The Music Man designed 6-bolt neck joint used in all the Sterling Ray basses are strong and stable with no shift in the neck pocket for superior tone transfer. The Music Man-designed bridge uses a thick saddle for precise adjustments and stability. Precise slotting on each saddle guarantees no sideways movement on the bass strings during heavy playing.

Top 3 For Upgrading

I started out on an Ibanez Luthite material bass and after 2 years of lessons, exploring musical styles, I decided to go with the Sterling Ray34 because I want to focus on Funk, R&B and Soul. The difference in a cheap bass to this Ray34 is amazing! The other two Basses I considered were the G&L Tribute L-2000 and the Sterling SB14. The G&L interested me because of the multiple tones you can accomplish with their pickup switches. The SB14 interested me because of the same reason why the Ray34 got my attention. The Ray34 won over the G&L because I wasn't interested in all the tone options and the Ray34 won over the SB14 because for my body type, arm length, hand size, the 34 was a better fit.

I LOVE the weight (not too heavy) quality, construction and appearance of the Ray34, but have to admit that my expectations were low considering I played on a begginer's cheapo bass.

So if you're upgrading, and want to sound like James Jamerson or Steve Harris, this bass can do a lot!

The Stingrays Cousin

When I first saw the Musicman Stingray one month after I started playing, I instantly fell in love. I wanted to save up money and purchase my very own Stingray, but then one day I walked into Long and Mcquade and I fell in love with this. It has a neck that may not be as thin as my Spector, but will fit nicely around your hand. I could get any tone I wanted out of this, but after owning this bass for over 2 months, I feel safe to say I would rather have this than a Musicman Stingray H.

Perfect

This bass is absolutely stunning in every way, shape, and form. It plays great, sounds great, looks great, and can be had for a steal of a price. Many people say it`s a great, cheap alternative to a real US Ray, but having owned 2 US Rays I feel safe in saying that this is even better than them and should not be overlooked as just a knock-off. In fact, this bass is so good it even puts my 91 NT Warwick SS1 to shame. Do yourself a favor and definitely try one of these out. You won`t be disappointed!

I was blown away.

So I was crusing around Guitar Center and I saw this bass sitting there, so I picked it up. First of all I have only been playing bass for 2 years, but once I started playing this thing I was flying up and down the neck like I've been playing for like 30 years. If you are looking for a great bass, with incredible action, and a great price. Look no further.
