I had the Sansamp Bass Driver DI until I got this thing and found out what a bass driver should sound like. The tone is gorgeous and easy to manipulate. The tone knob gives you subtle control of your tone, so if you want more fuzz you turn it up with the gain, and if you want less fuzz and more deep, you turn it down a touch. The level knob, 12 is the same volume as bypass, increasing it gives your bass more power. The gain and mix knobs give you all the control you need over the drive level. High gain and low mix gives you a creamy, tube-amp-y crunch. Turn up the mix, and you get roaring distortion that completely owns most other bass disto pedals I've tried (the Blowtorch comes to mind). Hit the boost button, and it gets crazy. You practically don't even need a rhythm guitarist at that point. I played this against the EBS Valve Drive in the store and even though the Valve Drive looks a lot cooler and is a terrific pedal, this thing wins for better and more controllable tone. It's cheaper, too, and not made in China. Got it home and played it against/with the Sansamp Bass Driver. Within a day I'd decided to sell the Sansamp. Bassists out there, you know how good the Sansamp is. That tells you how good this pedal is. GET THIS. Period.
