Using Korg's exclusive Resonant Electronic Modeling System (REMS), the AX3000B Modeling Signal Processor provides a familiar knob-based interface with easy access to all functions, a backlit LCD, an expression pedal, and breakthrough Expression Step Sequencer (ESS).

72 different bass effects give you unprecedented tonal breadth. 16 types of drive/amp effects model tons of sought-after vintage and hi-end amps and effects including a wide range of pre-effects, cabinets, modulation, delay, and reverb (11 types of each).

Effects can be activated 7 at a time and include compressor, limiter, wah, flanger, chorus, and 2-octave pitch shifter, as well as fretless and bass synth effects, plus a lot more. Create and store 96 programs with your favorite combination of REMS effects. 32 preset programs are also provided.

Use the expression pedal to control wah, volume, or many other effect parameters, or assign a wide range of functions to the Control Switch for even greater flexibility.

The ESS sampler lets you store effect parameter movements and play them back to create dramatic changes in the sound. ESS can also be used to create subtle foot-controlled stepped modulation effects as well as dramatic controlled pitch effects. Choose from 7 ESS modes and control the ESS playback speed in real time by tapping a control switch or by using the expression pedal to smoothly change the speed. Use a control switch to start ESS playback or use the expression pedal to recall the desired step. Effects can be turned on and off individually.

Send/return jacks allow you to connect your favorite stomp boxes. AUX IN jack lets you connect an external sound source and play along with it. Heavy-duty metal body stands up to the demands of live stage performance while the Auto Tuner lets you tune your instrument while muted.

Backlit LCD provides superb visibility. Amp/line output selector lets you run straight into the board. Key lock function for preventing accidental control changes. S/PDIF digital out, MIDI I/O, and AX3000B Sound Editor software that lets you edit and manage AX3000B programs on your PC or Mac.

Too Bad To Be Discontinued

I purchased this pedal in Dec 06. It is a beautiful looking effects pedal, but the features were much more than skin deep. You can generate about any effect you wanted out of this effects pedal. It really makes my amps sound much richer (depending on the mode you select), and the effects themselves are fun to play with. I purchased this primarily for the variations of distortion, but it offered so much more. Too bad, I hope whatever Korg comes out with next capitalizes on the talent this pedal has.

I bought this back in February, and I have had a good time with it so far. It has some great amp models, which I like for recording direct into my computer. The distortions are very nice sounding (and I've heard some very expensive distortions that don't sound much better). The choruses are great, as are the other modulation effects. Some effects are a little weird and don't seem to do much for the sound. Noise reduction is a plus, which I love because both of my basses are unshielded. At first I thought the compressor wasn't all that great, until I turned it off. Man, it makes it possible for me to get incredibly heavy sound without having the pre-amp clip. This thing has better pres than my Laney combo amp. It also works well with guitar. I play all styles, and this works with most.

Great price, questionable quality

This pedal is loaded with features for the price. The models sound pretty good, the customization options for getting a unique sound are almost endless. You can hear a bit of digitation in some of the effects. Unless you're playing a huge variety of music you aren't going to use 80% of what this (or any) pedal with this depth has to offer, but it's a lot of fun.

I didn't have it long enough to completely get everything dialed in, the pedal quickly developed a problem with the volume knob (not the expression pedal) "walking" and increasing volume all on its own. That was a big problem because it would knock the pedal out of its pre-set and activate the volume at wherever the knob was last positioned. Not good on stage. That gave me concerns about the reliability of this product so I sent it back. I probably got what I paid for, though, you can't argue with the price.

Great job Korg!

Pros: Great look. The picture portrays it as a brighter red, when in fact it looks much darker (a good thing if you're like me and generally prefer darker colors). Once I got it to work, I am tweaking and tweaking and did I say tweaking??? You could probably sit there playing around with different combinations for the rest of your life nonstop. It sounds like a dream.

Con: If you aren't stupid like me, then you probably won't even have this problem at all, but I got a bit aggravated when I could not change the output signal. It continued to sound like the same old Peavey Millennium. Then I realized that I had plugged into the wrong output jack. I don't remember if the instructions specified which one to plug into, but it doesn't help the fact that I still feel like an idiot. Otherwise, this thing is absolutely impeccable.

Overall: For the price, why would you not pick up such a fun piece of equipment as this??? Unless, of course, your husband/wife has something to say about disappearing into the music room for hours on end discovering new soil with this thing :-)

Nearly perfect

I've owned every bass multi-effects processor out there and this unit is great, especially for the price. I only wish it had a few more options - found on other processors like: On/Off switch, Bypass Mode, optional control pedal for tempo control. I love the funk sounds such as Filtron, Talk and Flanger. The synths are extremely funky and tracks well. This is the first multi effect bass unit that I could use straight out the box without any tweaks! The presets are awesome! A lot were created by Stu Hamm. Even Bootsy Collins owns this and the guitar version. My two biggest complaints are 1. the text (graphics). There's not enough contrast against the maroon colored unit. It's especially hard to read in dimly lit settings. 2. I wish the pitch shifter function on the expression pedal could be used as a global function. It's isolated to the modulation function. I commonly like to use it with the cool 70's funk sounds such as auto wah, talk and bendy things such as extreme phasers and flangers. I was hoping not to have to buy a separate whammy pedal, but I guess I have to make that move. I would give it a 10 if it wasn't for those two things.
