Overpriced Jazz Bass

I really do not understand the allure surrounding this bass; probably the price. I demoed this bass next to a Fender Deluxe American Jazz and I must say the experience was.... saddening. Not only did the Jazz cost a third of the price, but I was able to dial out EVERY SINGLE TONE on both basses. That's not to say this is not a nice bass, its features are top-notch and it's a very playable bass, but you're just paying premium for fancy wood. If you want to match the tone get a Deluxe Jazz and save yourself a hefty amount.

I went to the studio a few months back and was doing some original tunes. I laid all the bass tracks with a Warwick Thumb 5 bolt on and they sounded really good. I noticed the studio owner had Streamer Stage II 5 hanging up so I decided to see what it sounded like on one track. I ended up redoing the entire album with the stage II. It was like night and day how well the bass lit up the tracks. I HIGHLY recommend this bass. Warwick is proud of it though.

I have the Honor of having a 1986 Streamer (just-that) with EMG pick-ups(stock) and its is the fastest neck that I've ever played. It takes a little time to get YOUR sound but the Bass has a few all YOU do is dial it in and KICK!

New Stage II not the same as the old model

I wanted to upgrade with a new version of my old 1990 Stage II and get a nicer new finish but I got a pricey shock. First the neck is round and thick nothing like the very slim thin jazz feel of my old bass and the wood is different in the runners going up the neck. The new nut is a flop and the body is thicker which makes the bass weigh almost 2 pounds more. Yes the finish is nicer and the MEC's/preamp is louder with the 12 volt instead of the old 8 volt. Balance is about the same but the overall weight will get your attention after about 30 minutes of stage play. The Warwick bridge is one of the best available for a solid great set up and has not changed over the years. Overall it is a pretty bass but after a pricey lesson this is not a keeper so I am still stuck playing my old Stage II until I can find a lighter bass with a thin neck.

Mr. Versatile-Streamer Stage 2

This is the bass that can pretty much do it all. Warwick's website nailed the description of the sound on the head; "the tightest lows and the brightest highs." The bass sits incredibly well in any mix, from aggressive, overdriven rock to articulate, silky jazz. All of the notes have a slight edge to them, from low B on up. The treble can get annoying when the nob is dimed, but overall, this bass can cop any sound from dub to modern Marcus slap. The only quality problem I've had is the just-a-nut 2 graphite stays breaking off. I believe the brass just-a-nut 1 is a more durable design.
