After trying several bass guitars in this price bracket I found this to be one of the best. I sits comfortably, lovelly to play and good value for the price. To say that I am impressed is an understatement.

Well, it was really more out of curiousity than actual expectation that I asked to see the Washburn. They didn't (from what I understood) have a fabulous reputation for producing basses, and the name seems rather attached to Country and Westen genres more than funk or rock (which I was aiming for). However, the description looked good, almost perfect, for the slap bass I was looking to buy to compliment my Fender. Exotic woods, actice electronics, a thru-neck, 24 frets, really a very exellent stats line. Well, I plug it in (obviously) and the first few notes a I pop off sound exellent, not music man exellent, but superior to many basses I had tried out (some which reached to the $800 range) the pop is crisp, the slap sounds meaty and, when left to it, resonates almost deafiningly. Finger style isn't quite as impressive, but the clear and pretty treble combines with the great midrange to produce some very good classic rock tones, with the deep end really boosted for a good hard rock/metal tone if you do a little nob fiddlig. Really though, the biggest draw for me is the exellent slap and pop sound, its got a great sound for funk (especially if you play slap style like I do). The features of the bubinga wood body, thru neck, and especially the active electronics are very extensive, expecially for a bass of this price. The sound is fantastic, the only (very slight) problem is the spread of the strings is a little wide, but that provides for an easier time to get your fingers under the string to play a pop. Bottom line, this bass is perfect for the price, everything you could want (and expect), especially if you play funk.

I picked up this bass about a year ago and have been blown away by the value. This bass plays great, the action is low and fast and the tone is amazing. I did a quick set up and was off and running. It stays tuned incredibly well. This bass is as good as many that cost twice as much. Our band plays a lot of different types of music from blues to metal and it sounds great no matter what. If you need a real good bass for not a lot of money, this is the one to get.

I was looking for a good value bass and decided to give this one a try. I haven't been disappointed. It plays great, sounds great, looks great. I play pretty much everyday since I'm in a working band. We play rock, blues, alternative stuff and it all sounds good. One of my friends who has been playing bass professionally for over 30 years could not believe this bass only cost what it does. This bass is an amazing value.
