Through an Ampeg B2Re into an Ampeg 4x10 (I forget the model, hlfb?) it delivers all the low thump, mid punch, and high clarity you could ask for in this price range. I love my MIM p bass but the 614 has taken ti's place. Also, the Gotoh 201 is a direct replacement, cheap, sturdy bridge.

I've had this bass for little over a year and have not once regretted buying it. The tones you can produce can match any style. The quality is excellent.

When shopping for a new bass, the most important thing is feel. Does it feel right in my hands?. I must have picked up dozens of instruments, before I determined what I wanted. Price has no bearing on how the bass fits your taste and preferance of playing. The BB614 delivers great tone, quality construction, and playability at a price that makes sense to enyone who wants value with style.

Best Bass EVER

Okay, it's so cliche to say "this bass rivals instruments three times the price," but I swear to all that is holy and good, this one does. I've played tons of basses in 15 years, many of them high-end (Warwick, Musicman, Tobias), and this one's tone kicks them all. Tight punchy mids, smooth bass, controlled high-end. The two active pups sound unbelievable, with the J-pickup doing a spot on Jaco. In the middle, a great modern bass sound. Neck it nice and smooth and the thing is built like a tank. I'd prefer a nicer finish on mine...but you can't have it all. Paul McCartney and Peter Hook have played the BB series for a reason. Just flat out great tone.

I am a 20yr+ guitar veteran and just recently switched over to bass for my band. I don't know too many in and out on the level of electric basses, but I'll tell you I know tone. When I plug the BB614 into a small fender bass amp at the store, I knew this was going to be my first purchase. For the price and features and the tone, this bass has all that I wanted. I was going to get the Warwick or the Spector, They're nice and all but to my ears, this definitely fit bill. Can't go wrong with a Yamaha. Love the retro style.
