My Yamaha TRB 1004 is with out a doubt , the best sounding and playing guitar in my collection. From the pro finish to the pick-ups, nothing but quality. The machines do not slip, and the bridge is massive and stable. The 35 inch scale takes a little bit to get used to, but you will be playing this guitar so much more than your others ,it will hardy be noticeable after the first few minuets. I have fender custom shop guitars that do not equal the TRB 1004 in sound or playability ! Truly a boutique piece at a bargin price !! Simply put; A must have !!

When I say "Gnarly Bass" it is 100% Bad...

When I say "Gnarly Bass" it is 100% Bad to the Bone. The look of axe is as great as the way it sounds and plays. I have owned some very high dollar and big time name bass guitars however this axe will slap the taste out of thier face. The action is super fast and the EQ sounds great, the low end makes your teeth crack and your guts roll. I play everything from Country to bang your head Metal and this axe has it covered for under A thousand bucks that is unreal. I played a 5k$ bass and it has nothing on this chopper so do yourself a favor and get one ASAP!!!

This bass gave my gooose bumps

Even though I am a drummer, I occasionally play bass when needed for recording or filling in for a small gig. Anyways, I was recording with my friend Matt at his studio and since I don't have a bass, his dad let me borrow his bass, which happened to be this bass. Right when I plugged it in, the thundering low end gave me goosebumps and blew my mind. I had fallen in love. This bass has excellent tone, good balance, and a comfortable feel. My only complaints are that the neck would sometimes tend to make my hands a bit sore while playing for long periods of time and the knobs were a bit hard to get used to. But other than that, a wonderful bass that I would love to purchase.

A great, versatile bass!

I've had mine for almost a year and it just sounds good, regardless of the situation. Both pickups are very usable on their own and the blended tone is nice and modern. The eq works great and has plenty of versatility. And, a 4 string with a 35" scale? It's about time!

Everything on this bass is put together extremely well and it balances just great!

My one complaint: the recessed output jack makes it impossible to use right angle cables.

My lovely wife bought this bass for my birthday; wow, what an ax! The sound of this bass is just amazing as is the playability; it just blows out of the water some of the more expensive basses out, never mind the one's in the same price range. I took mine to the luthier for a good setup, as it looked like it had been display for a while. I also added a Badass II bridge and Hipshot tuners, the bass just smokes now. I highly recommend this bass to anyone that is on a budget and still has a craving for a better bass; you can't go wrong!!! I only marked this bass 4.5 on the features because I did not like the stock bridge and tuners, the sound of the stock Yamaha pick-ups is to die for.
