I have been playing bass for over 30 years and have quite a few basses. I had some other 5 strings and found the string spacing too close. This bass has roughtly the same string spacing as a 4 string and allows for much cleaner salp bass. The variety of sounds it is cabable of is amazing! Very high quality for a very reasonable price. I love the 35" neck - really great sustain on the low B. It's my primary live bass and sounds great in the studio too! I would buy another one in a heartbeat! One of the best purchases I ever made....

Had this bass about three years now and I'll never let it go. I play this bass more than any other bass I own and for a good reason. This will melt in your hand and is one of the best playing basses around. The neck has just the right feel to it. and the action can go very low. It's has a fast neck with a good feel. I've change the pickups and the preamp but the ones that come with the bass was very nice too. I would recommend this bass if you're looking to get a well made bass at a good price.

I went and played this bass before thinking too much about purchasing it and I'm glad I did. The bass played well and sounded good but I just couldn't get past the heal that prevented access to the upper frets. Granted, as a professional bass player for 35 years I realize that you don't spend that much time in the upper fret area but I just couldn't plop down my money for a bass that has this design flaw so I had to pass. Other than that I liked the bass a lot. Sure was a pretty bass too.

I started playing bass in 2000 after many years of playing guitar. After several years on a four string I decided it was time to enter the world of the low B sonic boom. Being a family man on a budget I needed to find an instrument that was affordable but not "cheap"....Not an easy task. I was able to try out Ibanez and Schecter and MTD models at my local music store. I wasn't really sure what to think of them and I wanted to try something else, so I took the chance and ordered the Yamaha TRB10005 in July 08'after reading several reviews and falling in love with how it looked on the web site. I was not disappointed. This thing plays great. The action is low and even and the string spacing is close enough so my not so large hands can get around just fine. The 35 inch scale really makes the low B clearer than some 34 inch scale ones that I tried. The pick ups and 3 band eq are very flexible and responsive and allow a wide range of tonal qualities. The sound is even on every string up and down the fretboard. I play through a GK Backline 600 through an old peavey 4x10 cabinet and it sounds great. My bandmates are totally impressed at the sound especially at the modest price I paid. Get it, you'll like it.

I read on 2 other reviews previous to mine that this is a bass guitar better than Musicman, Warwick and Fender. I do not completely agree because those three brands make good basses too. However, this yamaha can do the tonal quality of all those 3 basses at so reasonable price. I used to carry those 3 basses in my gigs to get the tonal quality required for the songs, now I only need to carry my yamaha because it can adjust to any type of music. So funny is that it is the least expensive guitar in my rack but it's now my primary for both live and recording. Excellent job yamaha.
