Not Good Enough

I was really happy to be buying from Yamaha again. I was extremely pleased with one of there low-end basses that I used to have. But I ended up sending this bass back. As soon as I took it out of the box, first thing I noticed was that the finish on my natural colored guitar looked NOTHING like the pictures. It's much darker and more yellow. Doesn't look nearly as good as the picture. But I got over that, didn't bother me that much. I plugged it in, tuned it up, adjusted the action and such to my liking.

The first problem I had, the neck pickup started cutting in and out. It's probably something I could have fixed, but I was not going to void a warranty one a BRAND NEW item. Next problem I had was an extremely odd sounding hum that made me think my speakers had blown out on my when hitting lower notes. Then it spread to almost every string except the G and C. And the amount of hum changed with how well connected the bad pickup was, so obviously there was some sort of relation.

In the end, I did NOT pay for a broken instrument. I'm returning it and buying a schecter instead.

Super bass, but try the neck and string spacing!

The TRB1006 is a super bass for the price. It has no dead notes, very powerful pickups (louder compared to my other bass with Bartolinis) and superb smooth electronics. The flat radius 35" neck take some getting used to as well as the string spacing on and behind the rear pickup where I usually play. The only problem I had was a few high frets causing irritating by buzzes, but this I fixed in a jiffy. I used an Eden amp and with flat settings I can get a great slap, finger and Joco-ish tone. Go get it!

This is the best bass I've played and bought.

I've used this bass to play Progressive Metal, Jazz, Fusion, Classick Rock, Salsa, anything you can think of and it sure as hell does the job ! I've only had two problems with it, but they're not bad enough for me to lower the raitings. The hole where you plug in your cable is not working properly, but that can be fixed. The 16th fret in the A string for some reason isint working well. I'll get it fixed as soon as I can. Now I really feel like John Patitucci :P His cheap version at least. It's worth the money and if I was Yamaha I'd charge even more !
