I bought this bass strictly for a well rounded blue/jazz rock feel and that what i got from it, the tones are warm and bright the semi hollow body gives that right flavor!
I bought this over a Epiphone T-bird, it just called out to me. The downfall is i feel the volume and tone pots are not BIG GIG READY, Tea-house and Jazz Club gigs are perfect but not ARENA or CONCERT HALL ready.. Only Down fall

I bought this a year ago . I tried it when it first came out and didn't like it . I had ordered the Hofner but when it was suppose to be there it wasn't . I tried a different one and I liked it . Felt good and comfurtable . The thing is you have to play with it awhile to figure how to set the volume and tone controls for the right sound you need . Put some flat wounds on it .After that it's a great bass . I'm glad now that I got Epiphone instead of the Hofner . I also own a Casino and an older model of the E-J200 . Epiphone is surelly the BEST DEAL around .

I bought this bass a couple years ago and have been very happy with it. I play a lot of blues, jazz, and rock. I love the hollow body feel and the tones I get. That said I wouldn't recommend this too much for other music styles (although it can be done!). One thing I have noticed is that you really need to pay attention to the settings on the guitar and amp. I have seen people try it out in stores and just hate it because they are getting a terrible sound. Make sure to try it out with the right amp and play with the settings. Gives a good low tone thats not too muddy.

Shipped in good time....perfect out of the box.
Bass did not need any setup...Intonation perfect even with a floating bridge.
I was surprised at the quality. This was made in korea. I have a tobias toby and a Kramer solid acoustic both from korea and they too are perfect.
In contrast.........I just got done returning two Gibson sg's to another outfit. Both had unacceptable fret work..yes GIBSON...After the second one I exchanged it for an epiphone g400 instead.....It too arrived with perfect finish...good fret work. This one was made in CHINA and needed a lot of setup and a bone nut,
But now I like it better than the two Gibs.
I ordered this bass when I was looking for a short scale bass. The sound was good , hot as my p bass. I put some 100 flatwounds on it and it plays and sounds great. You have to play this bass with a much softer approach.I have smaller hands so this scale is much more comfortable for me.With an adjusted technique I can slap and pop with no problem. With roundwouns the bass is very articulate and acouticly loud.I swap strings back and forth for diff styles.
Love this bass. Now I have to learn some beatles

I played this bass in a store and was impressed.
I couldn't figure out why some people were giving it such dismal ratings. I don't think it would be too great for metal, but I play blues and classic rock and it sounds just fine.
One thing to remember is that if you buy an Epiphone or a Squier, it won't come to you ready to play. If you can't do your own set up, spend the money to have somebody do it for you. Makes all the difference in the world.
